Update on Discovery of 8 New Death Planets

The newly discovered objects were given the designation WASP-157 b, HATS-17 b, HATS-11 b, HATS-12 b, OGLE-2014-BLG-0257L b, 74890 b, HIP HIP 8541 b and EPIC 318 b. All are gas giants. The weight of these gas-planets are in the range of 0.57 (WASP-157 b) until 36 Jupiter masses (OGLE-2014-BLG-0257L (b)). In the case of OGLE-2014-BLG-0257L (b), it is possible that the object is a brown dwarf rather than planetary object. With the exception of HIP 74890 b, HIP 8541 b and OGLE-2014-BLG-0257L (b) all newly discovered objects circling very close to their parent stars, with the period of circulation of the order of 3-16 days. These are called. “Hot Jupiters”. The other three gas-planets are circulating in the average distance from 0.61 (OGLE-2014-BLG-0257L b) to 2.8 (HIP 8541 b) astronomical unit.

Currently a list of known and confirmed gas-planets contains 2094 objects. Since the beginning of this year has already been discovered or confirmed the existence of more than forty “alien worlds”.
