Environmental conscience during the boat trip doesn’t have to be. Because now comes the “Soelcat 12“. It is intended as a tour boat for up to 20 passengers. Compared to the usual motor boats with diesel power, the solar boat to be particularly environmentally friendly and quiet. And also in the doldrums it quickly is progressing compared to sailing boats.
For a pleasure boat that will cost half a million euros, it’s not just fancy. Rectangular, paved to the entire roof with solar panels. But this is just the highlight of the Soelcat 12: the boat requires no fossil energy and reached approximately six knots which is about 11 km/h with the force of two engines powered from solar energy alone.
The double speed should be even possible if you switch to the two extra batteries.
Dutch yacht Designer have devised the model, to promote eco-tourism. Whether for day trips from the hotel beach or to the guest schippern in the Edelresort, the Soelcat of 12 aimed at emission-free operation.
From 200 liters of gasoline to zero
The first customer will receive his solar-powered boat later this year, say the producers of Soelyachts. They do not reveal who that is. Also not which option of the customer has chosen. The ecological advantages over a conventional boat with diesel generator are obvious. This corresponds to the average emissions of greenhouse gases by 14 people.
Extremely lightweight construction
In addition of course, that the electric motors are much quieter than conventional drives. The twelve-metre boat can accommodate 20 passengers plus two crew members.
