Russia Sonic Bomber is on Production
The Russian air force wants to procure 50 copies of a faster than sound heavy bomber, which flew for the first time in 1981 and is no longer built: the Tupolev Tu-160, also known under the name of BlackJack. When the Tu-160 designed by the Russian Tupolev Design Bureau started on its first flight in 1981 she was far superior to Western patterns in many respects: the heavy long-range bombers flew at supersonic speeds. Early search for a successor

Many technical improvements for the Tu-160 M2
The planned technological improvements is essentially about the Jet engines and the cockpit. There are four engines of the Russian type NK-32-2 by Vodokanal. Due to different metal alloys, they can withstand permanently higher temperatures. Thus, there are fewer engine failures and a lower maintenance requirement. All electronics are replaced in the cockpit. Thereby, a modular avionics is to receive the Tu-160 M2 which facilitates the subsequent further modernization.
