“Impossible Engine” that works, new age in engineering

It looks like that the EmDrive “impossible” is real, that is to break one of the basic laws of physics, the law of conservation of momentum, and it was through the years dropped by the research community, will come to final end. Dr. José Rodal, who was not involved with the research, but had access to them unofficially revealed that positively they passed review, so we can expect a huge breakthrough.

Most important question drive my mind is how this kind technology can be proven right and yet after 15 years we don not see working prototypes on our orbit? Strictly speaking it is a review of last year’s “impossible” by the laboratory Eagleworks located in Center of the Lyndon B. Johnson space in Houston, which confirmed the operation of the EmDrive (or more accurately speaking, its another variant, called Cannae Drive) in a vacuum.

If it’s unofficially reported to confirm (and this is likely because the author leaked gives even the exact title of the review and its authors, as well as a key part of), we will therefore be able to talk about a big turn, not only theoretical, but also practical field, this engine can transform the face of space. And why? We invite you to read (the following excerpt appeared previously in our texts about the EmDrive, but it’s such a reminder for people who don’t know the story from the beginning).

For the record: currently used engines require gas fuel, who disposed of is from the engine and causes a recoil of the ship in the opposite direction. The engine does not require to run such gas would be a huge revolution, because now any even if space has access to a limitless source of solar energy need to act as gas, whose source is limited.

EmDrive is the work of Roger Shawyera, who is not a accidental discovery, is one of the best whizzes from aeronautics in Europe. His work, in turn, looks like a closed conical container that after completing resonating microwaves produces a string towards the wider end of the cone by increasing the momentum of the system. In turn the principle of conservation of momentum says that if the layout of bodies do not work external forces, the system has a constant rush.

The base engine has its effect on the phenomenon of radiation pressure. Electromagnetic radiation, absorbed, reflected or scattered produces just pressure equivalent energy density flux divided by the speed of light-and thus generates a certain, very small. The so-called Group speed electromagnetic wave and the same generated by her strength, may depend on the geometry of the wave-guide, in which it propagates (which has been proven already in the 1950s of the 20th century).

Shawyer understood that if the wave-guide will be such that on one of his end of the wave speed will be much different from the speed of the wave on the other end (and the ability to give a cone) is bouncing this wave between the two ends is the difference in pressure, and so the strength sufficient to generate the string.

Such a system is closed, and so at first glance, it breaks the law conservation of momentum, however, comes Einsten relativity, because according to Shawyer the engine itself is in a different reference system, and wave in the Interior-in another.

Despite the present by the inventor of the acting (though very small, generating only 16 mN thrust) models it was, despite his extensive experience and merit (it was for many years one of the heads of the European aerospace company EADS Astrium), ridiculed by colleagues, who regarded his device “another perpetual motion”.

The inventor, however, worked on, was getting ready the next models, and all the time it was investigating whether the case reached the pulling force is not the result of friction, electromagnetic effects or even plain air movement, but could not find the error.

And these, the results of which have been published in the last year have produced a clear result-with a few kilowatts of power managed to generate 720 mN thrust.

Very little, however, ion engines XIPS Boeing’s production, which are used in satellites to gently correcting their position, generate less than 1/4 the power consuming twice as much energy, and to require it to act as fueling gas, which is the role of the noble here Xenon. And therefore the “wear out” when gas, ends their life.

The problem, however, is that the Chinese scientists with their colleagues from the Wider West does not want to believe.

In 2014, its version of this engine (called Cannae) built the American Guido Fett, who managed to convince NASA to conducted its tests and initial tests have given a positive result, Eeagleworks engineers, however, decided to repeat it in a vacuum to get even more reliable confirmation.

After mounting the motor suspended in a vacuum applicants instructions are perceptibly once again managed to confirm that it achieved a string of 30-50 micro Newtons very few, however, does not change the fact that it works so as its inventor breaking seemingly the principle of conservation of momentum.

Apparently, because according to the gurus from NASA in the game enter can quantum effects, and more specifically the impact of the emerging and other annihilation to the particles of matter and antimatter in the quantum vacuum (but as they wrote in their article their aim was not to know here exact rules for the operation of the engine but to check whether or not it works).

If indeed other scientists failed to find in them any serious bugs and shortcomings perhaps this story will finally happy and NASA decides to build a full-size version of the engine.
