Fleye: Programmable, shock resistant and fingerproof drone

With this drone, you could dance even Pogo. Because Fleye has something that other drones don’t have: a literal all-round protection. The hardware and the sharp-edged wheels into a package that is reminiscent of a pressure cooker. Fleye can not only films, but are programmed for all possible tasks.Dimitri Arendt pushes away the football great spherical robot that flies at eye level on him, with one hand by itself. The unmanned flying object will remain almost at cruising altitude, parried the blow with a sluggish putter backwards and needs only one or two seconds, until once again balanced: the short scene is currently on the Crowdfunding platform kick starter and probably is to demonstrate the “safest drone of the world”. Arendt is one of its inventors.

The engineer from Belgium is technical director of the company Fleye and founded together with his colleague Laurent Eschenauer’s. Your product is a same name, the hardware and rotors by a shock-proof case and Grill which are shielded. “You can keep Fleye, touch, push and they walk into without violating safety of themselves or others”, (developers promise).

Much less sensitive than other drones was of course also in the event of a collision with any obstacle. Would it have been a Fleye and not an other drone, which circled last summer at a concert in Mexico about Enrique Iglesias, the singer would not cut is probably in the finger, when he attacked then.
As big as a football

Fleye has roughly the size of a soccer ball, weighing 450 g and reached an airspeed of maximum 15 km/h. With their commercially available and replaceable lithium-polymer battery, the drone manufacturer can remain but only ten minutes in the air. The battery is coming to an end, Fleye rank but also safe from alone when the pilot do it in time, the manufacturer promises.

Like the most other drones, also Fleye primarily serves as a flying camera. She can as well as panorama shots make Selfies and float up to 10 cm exactly on the spot. The films can be store on a micro SD card, for one slot has been integrated. The HD video camera with 1080 p resolution at 30 frames per second is perched on a scaffold above the grid, which shields the blades inside the ball. It is controlled via Smartphone app on IOS (Apple) or Android devices.

You can also autonomously fly them and keep track of the video stream. The drone can be controlled manually with a virtual gamepad for the Smartphone or a gamepad connected via Bluetooth. Various controls are possible thanks to programmable interfaces.

Fleye Lush sensory equipment

The drone inside a Linux machine’s ARM A9 with dual-core processor, 512 MB RAM and 4 GB memory as standard. Equipped with magnetometer, accelerometer and gyro – floats the drone stable through the air and can withstand up to 8 km/h winds. It also has a print-based (baromerischen) altimeter, GPS, a sonar for height up to 3 m above ground and a camera in the ground that detects motion by means of analysis of the optical flow.

Thanks to software development kits (SDK) for Android and iOS and Nodejs and/or Python can be used for applications the lush sensory equipment of the drone, which want to be programmed by ambitious developers. Since monitoring tools are also possible such as games or tracking applications.
